Wall. Cyc. Cloud.

Here is kind of where I'm going - Brick wall that is a 'permanent' piece. The center section can break away and roll/shift downstage for Wall scenes. Remember brick textures from before, aged, graffiti, etc.

The 'cloud' is still up in the air a little (hardy, har har). I like the idea of a dimensional element for lighting purposes. But I'm not sure what materials to consider... Thinking, too, of a semi-opaque scrim or muslin panel with painted clouds. Either way, the cloud can be set away from the cyc to maybe light from behind. (shoot a Source 4 through to highlight CB) It just can't be TOO happy a cloud - it's essentially a storm cloud.

I want to incorporate the problematic pillars, cover or dress and maybe install additional vertical elements to allow the set to mesh with the theater itself. What they may become, I don't know.

Can the wall move and be positioned in other places, not just track directly DS?

Can it leave the stage completely, leaving a gap in the permanent set? I'm thinking of DAISY and maybe a couple of moments in the show.

Can we see the brick wall scrim from behind?

In other words, is it kind of a box piece that could spin so that a "solid" scrim wall is facing DS to the audience, and say, CB's Sister is standing between the wall and the scrim, and this is where her performance art occurs?

Or that we project gobos onto the surface?

I really like the stylistic abstraction of the fish cloud, or maybe the cloud is graffiti? I agree it needs to be a storm cloud.

I love the idea of mimicking the pillars in the scenic design.

Is there a way to make the wall less symmetrical though?

Nice start.
